The Jewish past of Heide – video «David Susskind @ Heide» and discussion with Lukas Pairon, Hans Geldhof and Isy Halberthal

The village where Lukas Pairon grew up, Heide-Kalmthout (north of Antwerp), was built largely at the beginning of the last century by Jews from Antwerp. Their synagogue was built well before Heide’s village church. And the first Yeshiva (Talmud School) in Belgium was also located in Heide and enjoyed great international renown. David Susskind (CCLJ) studied there for several years and told it in a conversation filmed in 2008. We look at his testimony and Lukas Pairon will be in conversation with guide Hans Geldhof about the Jewish past of the village Heide.
