Music softens morals, as the saying goes. But what can music do for street children or former members of violent gangs in Kinshasa? Researcher Lukas Pairon asked himself this question a few years ago. For four years (2012-2016) he travelled back and forth between the Congolese capital and Belgium and wrote down his findings in his doctoral thesis ‘Music Saved Them. They say’.
